Montney Shale

Projects

  • Structural model and initial geocellular model for well placement, anti-collision, and drilling risk assessment (2011)

In this project, I acquired, imported, and QCed previously interpreted well tops, surface structural maps, fault boundary maps, and available GIS data to construct a structural model and initial geocellular rock property model from the surface to the base of the Montney Shale.  The model was used to map geologic points in the overburden that correlate to logged drilling hazards, and to perform automated extractions of these information to new proposed well paths placed in the AOI.  This model was successfully used by the client to map drilling hazards in three dimensions, and to more accurately predict geologically based drilling hazards in the overburden.
